It's Kind of a Cute Story



Roland “Rolly” Crump is a living Disney legend whose life has span a career in and out of Disney for more than 40 years. Trying to get a bit more information on Haunted Mansion (and yes, the description and history is coming) I decided to give it a whirl. It really is a cute story and has so many stories about his interaction with Walt.  If you get a chance, please read it. For any Disney fan, this is a great book to delve into. The funny stories he has about the “Old Man” aka Walt are just a treasure, ah, to be a fly on the wall back then.

       To see his work evolve through the years was a real treat. Some of his stuff is really out there, (particularly, the Museum of the Weird) and actually gave me nightmares. But I wasn’t the only one- according to Rolly- so did Walt, calling him a “%)N of a #^$%Ch” for giving him nightmares after seeing his art on the Haunted Mansion. But he nurtured that in his employees, instead of getting angry, he liked that the stuff made him uneasy at night and wanted to display that in a “Museum of the Weird”. Alas, it never came to be, Walt passed away before the Haunted Mansion’s opening and any ideas of a walk through were scrapped.
